It was a real treat to take three of our senior string players (Maria B-K, Evie M and Maya B) to visit Philip Brown’s Violin Workshop in Newbury last week. The tour had been kindly organized by Mrs Jane Kane, our Head of Strings.
What a privilege it was to see the skill and dedication of the young artists, as they restored antique instruments and handmade beautiful violins and bows.. We learnt about Baroque instruments and saw some wonderful bows being carved for musicians from the Royal College of Music to play in a Prom later this year.

We discovered the unique qualities of wood and how this material gave life to the instruments.
A unique and special afternoon enjoyed by us and hopefully giving Maya B inspiration for our Art project too!
