New Zealand Test star comes to Cheam
Cheam welcomed New Zealand international batsman Lou Vincent.
Some of our top end cricketers were blessed to enjoy a two hour workshop with him and the newly styled bat 'The Mongoose', which is designed to gain maximum striking power.
Lou played 22 Tests for New Zealand and over 100 One Day Internationals. He fascinated the children when talking about his debut Test against Australia at Perth where he scored a century against the strongest attack in world cricket. He holds the record for the highest ever One Day International score by a Kiwi of 172.
Miles K and Tom L were our lads on the scene and they gave their view of their experiences with Lou and the Mongoose:
"Yesterday I had a great time and I think I talk for everyone when I say that. It was amazing to meet Lou Vincent and watch him play. I feel that it was good for our cricket to listen to his advice. The Mongoose was a very good bat and generated amazing power in your shots. Thank you very much for organising this for all the boys that could benefit." Miles K.
"The cricket today was great. I really enjoyed it because the bats were really powerful and wherever you hit the ball on the bat it whizzed off in the other direction that it came from. Lou Vincent was amazing. How he hit those sixes so easily was insane! Thank you for organising the day, it was great fun." Tom L.
The Mongoose, and all other cricketing equipment can be seen and purchased at our local Wilds Sports in Newbury and Cheam's cricketers have been afforded a discount on mention of this workshop.
