This is a real highlight in the Music Department calendar.

We invited a professional orchestra to come to Cheam and accompany some of our rising stars to perform solos. The orchestra really enjoyed this occasion and helped to make the whole experience exciting and rewarding for the young performers.

Sixteen musicians from Years 7 and 8 had prepared solos. We were treated to some stunning music. The programme was diverse and exciting and included pieces by Handel, Mozart, Elgar, Fauré and more modern composers. We premiered a new concerto written by Mr Lindsey-Clark, which was exciting.

Highlights for me – lots of lovely piano, rich saxophones, confident brass and beautiful singing and flute.

The concert climaxed with the Year 8 singers and the ladies of the Chapel Choir performing Adiemus by Karl Jenkins with some vibrant drumming.

We are so lucky to have the support to put on this amazing concert; a wonderful team of teachers and arrangers, a fabulous orchestra and children who blossom through the experience.

Just what music should be about. Thank you to all!
