Cheam School

Luke is an old friend of Cheam as his parents taught here some years ago. He was here to give a presentation about his first book, Stormy Cliff.

Luke read some extracts from the book and spoke about the process of writing and editing a book. His illustrator had also made a video to explain how the illustrations for the book were done. It was fascinating to see that she did not use any of the traditional tools of an illustrator but used instead a digital tablet.

Luke made the presentation very interactive, involving children in acting out some scenes from the book. The writing workshop encouraged children to think about how writers create characters and settings.

Overall, it was a very useful experience for the children to meet this dynamic young author.
