Pastoral

We believe that our care for the pupils at school is second to none. Cheam was recently praised for its 'outstanding pastoral care' by the Independent Schools' Inspectorate. We strive first and foremost for a happy and purposeful environment where children are encouraged to get involved in school life in what is a safe and secure environment.

There is a carefully structured pastoral system in place revolving around the form tutor who is always the first port of call at school. The tutors are overseen by Year Heads and the Assistant Headmaster takes overall responsibility for ensuring that all the children's pastoral needs are met.

We try to engender a real team spirit at Cheam where each and every individual is valued and respected. There is a strong community feel to the school which is promoted by regular assemblies and chapel services. There is a PSHE curriculum in place which helps to underpin the work we do with the children. We work hard at developing children's citizenship skills and there is a strong emphasis placed on good manners and consideration for others.
