In their Physical development and PE sessions we provide opportunities for the children to develop their gross motor skills and co-ordination whilst learning to be both active and interactive.
The children gain greater self-confidence and can see for themselves their developing control and movement skills.
Our physical development sessions teach the benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle through a wide range of activities and the promotion of looking after ourselves and our bodies.
All children in Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2) have one session of Physical Education and three sessions of Games each week. Movement/dance sessions are also a part of the overall sports curriculum.
In at least two of the Games sessions each week girls and boys are taught by female and male sports-qualified Prep School staff respectively, giving them specialist experience in sports such as tag-rugby, football, netball, cricket and rounders.
In the summer term children love the opportunity to swim in Cheam’s outdoor pool while developing their confidence in water and learning important water skills.
Our Sports and Games programme aims to introduce children to a healthy lifestyle and the strengths and importance of teamwork.
