In September 2012, Year 2 moved into the new Pre-Prep department alongside a ‘state of the art’ assembly hall, ICT suite and library. The building also houses specialist Music, French and Learning Support teaching accommodation, offices and our staffroom. The department will continue to take full advantage of the Prep School facilities when appropriate.
In Year 2 we continue to follow the National Curriculum for Key Stage 1, building on the learning from Year 1.
The children have daily literacy and numeracy sessions and the other subjects are taught through cross-curricular topics. They still receive French, PE, Dance and Music sessions from specialist teachers.
Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard allowing teachers to 
access vibrant and interactive materials appropriately to bring learning to life in the classroom. The education continues to be exciting and topic based and learning is taken outside into the school grounds or further afield where possible.
The highlight of the year is an overnight stay at the Mill on the Brue Activity Centre in Somerset where there is an emphasis on 'working together'.
The final half-term in Year 2 includes visits to the Year 3 classrooms, as well as Year 2 and Year 3 sports afternoons, in preparation for entry to the Prep School.
